“Jing (field)” means a state beyond the worldly realm, and “Yi (comfort)” always is used for describe a state of comfort, pursuit of extraordinary, escaping from mundane, or just a world of peace and quietness. The two words show the integration between art and nature, implying the artistic experience provided by the art museum which is pleasant, comfortable, and unique. Located above a pool, the museum goes nicely with the landscape, so that the art work is complementary with the nature.
The entrance opens the eastern wall, bringing in the light, landscape, and the water surface. There is a house type display table in the entrance of the second floor, penetrating the walls between sand table area and negotiation area, in order to increase the permeability of the whole space.
The water feature above the corridor flows down the glass curtain wall through the controlled drainage outlet, forming a contrast with the inner wall of the corridor around which the light and shadow echo. The curtain wall, which makes the corridor cool and permeable, is also used for background of the sunken garden’s performances.
